Personal-training guide
Returning to strength training after time away.
You do not need to restart at your old level. A useful return begins with where your body, confidence and routine are today, then builds gradually from there.

Let today be the starting point
Past experience is useful, but it should not dictate the load or pace of your first weeks back. Start with movements you can control and a level that leaves room to practise again soon.
Rebuild the rhythm
Consistency usually matters more than one ambitious workout. A regular appointment can remove decision-making, give you accountability and make it easier to develop a routine that fits your current life.
Use close coaching
Lucy can help you remember movements, rebuild confidence and adjust sessions as your fitness returns. A private studio also removes the pressure of comparing yourself with a busy gym floor.
Know when to seek additional advice
If pain, an injury, pregnancy, a health condition or a recent medical change affects exercise, speak to an appropriate healthcare professional and tell Lucy before training. Personal training does not replace medical assessment or rehabilitation.
Questions, answered
Useful things to know.
How quickly should I return to my old weights?+
There is no fixed timetable. Begin with loads you can control comfortably and progress according to how your movement, confidence and recovery respond.
Is once a week enough to restart?+
Once a week can be a practical minimum and a useful way to rebuild consistency. The right frequency depends on your goals and what else you do.
What if I feel nervous about returning?+
A private session gives you space to ask questions, practise movements and progress without the atmosphere of a crowded gym.
